On Sunday, June 21, we are planning to offer lunch to our neighbors who are congregants of the Common Cathedral. The common cathedral is a congregation that meets every Sunday, rain, shine, or snow at the Brewer Fountain to support our unhoused neighbors with a spiritual community and lunch. They have requested 120 lunches consisting of a variety of sandwiches, including egg salad, tuna salad, turkey and cheese, ham and cheese, and PB and J, as well as chips, cookies, fruit, and a drink. We also usually offer fresh fruit salad.

The common cathedral organization offers various programming and some concrete services to our unhoused neighbors, including art programming and outreach to care for the whole person. If you are interested in purchasing art supplies and/or clean, dry socks and underclothes. We offered such items in the winter, and they were gratefully received.

This is a First Church community-wide effort, whether it is participating in the lunch and church service at the Brewer Fountain on Sunday the 21st, or coming to church early on the 21st to make sandwiches and assemble bagged lunches, or making sandwiches at home and bringing them on Sunday, pulling together the entire lunch, coloring the bags we use to offer lunch, or providing the funding for the lemonade, cups, napkins, chips, cookies, fruit for fruit salad, and drinks. This is a chance to celebrate spiritual friendships within our congregation and with their congregation.

Please consider how you might support this event. Please reach out to Carol B. or contact the office for more information.

ALL are welcome to participate!
