The Trust for First Church
The Trust is formally separate from the Church but closely tied to it. The Trust was established in 1973 to ensure that the Unitarian Universalist religious tradition continues in perpetuity in Jamaica Plain. The Trust is the legal owner of the historic Church building and land. It also holds the Church’s investment portfolio which originated early in the Church’s history and grew with the sale of the parsonage, bequests, and gifts given in memory of members and ministers.
The Trustees maintain the assets of the Trust for the benefit of today’s congregation and future congregations. They authorize an annual contribution to the Church’s operating budget and support special projects such as the Task Force to Grow First Church. They encourage church members and friends to learn more about the Trust and to use the Trust as a vehicle for planned giving to First Church.
