First Church in Jamaica Plain Unitarian Universalist stands at the historic, cultural, and civic center of Jamaica Plain.  Our stately old building listed in the National and State Registers of Historic Places now needs substantial repairs if it is to survive and serve future generations. We seek to make the building safe and secure now and in the decades to come, both for our congregants and for the community as a whole.

To do so, the church initiated a multi-year restoration program.  This campaign will address two major aspects of that restoration.  One project is stabilization of the tower masonry. Where the interior and exterior walls have separated, granite blocks on the facing have loosened.  The other is replacement of the largely original slate roof over the meeting house to keep water out of the building.  These projects are not optional.  They are essential to the building’s survival.
